Tasting Note:
Light, pale straw colour. A very fresh, bright wine with lifted aromas of ripe pears, floral notes and subtle hints of musk typical of cool climate Pinot Gris. The palate is quite textured, with ripe pear flavours and a very light touch of sweetness balanced by a crisp acidity and a long finish with subtle fruit and spice flavours.
Winemaking:
Hand picked Pinot Gris from the Warburton Wines “Schuberts” vineyard was gently whole bunch pressed in an air bag press. The juice was then cold settled, racked and cool fermented in stainless steel using a selected aromatic yeast. Fermentation was stopped by chilling just before finishing to leave a very slight sweetness in the wine to balance the wines natural crisp acidity. The wine was then bottled early in July to retain its fresh and lively characters.
